Risks

1.- General Risk in the Area of Service of the Port

  • Being run over or hitby vehicles (light vehicles, trucks, cranes, machinery in general, etc.).
  • Traffic-related collisions between vehicles or due to obstacles.
  • Fall of objects due to collapse in the operational area or within the range of action in cranes or machinery in general.
  • Fall of objects due to collapse or demolition in general areas.
  • Fall of persons to same level.
  • Fall between different levels: fall into the sea, due to uneven land, oil spots, etc.
  • Sprains. Due to footsteps on objects, rail tracks, irregularity of the road surface, etc.
  • Projection of flying fragments or particles into eyes especially on windy days.
  • Exposure to electrical contacts.
  • Exposure to harmful substances.
  • Contact with caustic and/or corrosive substances.

2.- Preventive Safety and Action Measures in General Emergency Situations in the Area of Service of Port.

I – Rule for Entry, Traffic and Stay.

  • To access the workplace authorization will be requested, and entrance will be made only by the control booth.
  • Authorization will be requested for the access, both of people and vehicles, following the instructions established by the Port Protection Office.
  • Those who have to access the Security Area of the Port will always be clearly identified and will wear, in a visible place, the identification of the company they belong to.
  • Prohibition of parking in unauthorized areas. Speed limited to 50 Km./h. in general areas, 20 km./h. in operations areas and 10 Km./h. in handling areas.
  • Traffic lanes must be respected, both in operational and in general areas.
  • Prohibition of access unless explicitly authorized, to warehouses, workshops and industrial facilities (processing plants, machineryrooms, etc.).
  • Prohibition of access to loading and unloading areas, unless authorized.
  • You will not remain in other places different from those in which the works are executed, always following the itineraries previously marked, in that case.
  • Respect the direction of traffic.
  • Do not driveinside storage areas.
  • You will not remain under the area of operations or range of action of cranes. Neither will you remain under suspended loads.
  • You should use extreme caution when approaching the port cliff as there is a risk of falling into the sea.
  • On windy days, and next to the areas where bulk material is being unloaded generating dusty environments, we recommend the use of safety goggles to protect eyes from possible projections or fragments and/or particles.
  • You are reminded that freight trainsare allowed to circulate within the port area.
  • Under no circumstances will electrical distribution boards, work equipment, etc., be handled without the pertinent authorization.
  • You must use high-visibility vests, according to the UNE regulations.
  • You must use safety footwear, if necessary.
  • In general, at all times respect current traffic control regulations and road signs.

II – Emergency Measures

  • In an emergency communicate directly with the emergency services deemed appropriate, immediately informing then the Emergency Control Center (Tlf: 952-22-21-17 / 618-24-35-54) in order to handle the arrival of the emergency services suitably.
  • In an emergency, you will follow the indications given by the personnel of this Port Authority.
  • The instructions of the persons in charge of the operations must always be followed.
  • In the event of gas orsmoke clouds, move away in the opposite direction to the wind, but leaving the seat to your back.
